ECG Trainer
Rhythm recognition and 12-lead interpretation, an adaptive test that finds the edge of what you know, and a resuscitation drill built to the 2025 American Heart Association guidelines.
What it is
ECG Trainer is a teaching application for anyone who has to read an electrocardiogram under time pressure — medical students preparing for finals, residents on call, nurses and paramedics making a first assessment at the bedside.
It is built around a simple observation: most people do not fail ECG interpretation because they have seen too few examples. They fail because they have never been made to practise at the precise level where they are still wrong.
How it works
Real records where realism matters. Interpretation practice draws on a bank of 110 twelve-lead records selected from the openly licensed PTB-XL database and reviewed individually against clinical criteria. Nothing in that bank is synthetic, and nothing was included without passing review.
Generated rhythms where variation matters. The tutorial modules and the resuscitation drill generate their traces live, so a rhythm can be shown at different rates, with different ectopy, without hunting for a recording that happens to match.
An adaptive test rather than a quiz. A staircase procedure places the learner within a few questions and then keeps them near the boundary of their competence, where learning actually happens. The question engine composes from a pool of 7,998 items across the bank, so repetition is rare.

A line we will not cross
Recognising a cardiac arrest rhythm is not a premium feature. The arrest rhythms, the core conditions a student must know to be safe on a ward, and a complete tutorial arc through them will remain available without payment. Charging for the recognition of ventricular fibrillation would be indefensible, and we will not do it.
Status
In development. Clinical review of the drill content is not yet complete, and the application will not be released until it is. We would rather ship late than ship a resuscitation drill a cardiologist has not signed off.
ECG Trainer is a teaching tool. It is not a medical device, it is not for diagnosis or the treatment of patients, and it must never be used to guide the care of a real person.
